OYSG DISLODGES SELLERS OF FAIRLY USE CARS AND ARTISANS OPERATING IN STADIUM PREMISES
The dealers of fairly used cars known as " Tokunbo" , automobile mechanics, sellers of trucks and some illegal occupants at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex have been evicted by the State government.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaja Wasilat Adegoke made this disclosure in Ibadan today.
The Commissioner remarked that " the dislodgement of the Tokunbo sellers and the operations of the ARTISANS within the Stadium is not only depriving the bonafide users patronizing the stadium for sporting activities the opportunity to park their vehicles but also making the environment to be rowdy and almost inaccessible for the Sports men and women ".
The Commissioner stated further that the management convened an engagement meeting with the stakeholders three months ago to disseminate the information and appealed to them to relocate on or before 31st December, 2025.
adding that " a seven day ultimatum to vacate the premises was given to them again this year which lapsed on 15th January, 2026 ".
The Commissioner expatiated further further that it is expedient to decongest the stadium to create avenue for the utilisation of the available spaces for training of the athletes and reduce the influx of miscreants that constitute nuisance and cause distractions within the environment.
She however admonished all the vehicle owners parking illegally to remove their cars stressing that law enforcement agents will take punitive measures against them as from next week.
