Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Dapo Abiodun, Hosts Super Falcons of Nigeria
The Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, on Monday hosted the Super Falcons of Nigeria at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, ahead of their second-leg clash against the Amazons of Benin Republicin the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Qualifiers.
In recognition of their inspiring performances and to further motivate the team ahead of the crucial encounter, Governor Abiodun announced a ₦50 million support package for the Super Falcons.
Speaking during the reception, the Governor highlighted the significance of the team’s visit and the match’s return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
“Their return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium is a validation that we are doing something right in Ogun State,” the Governor said.
“Beyond hosting matches, we are transforming the stadium environment with plans to develop a world-class sports hub — complete with a five-star hotel, cinema, shopping complex, and other facilities that will make Abeokuta a true sports and tourism destination.”
Governor Abiodun also commended the Super Falcons for their historic tenth WAFCON title in Morocco, describing it as a moment that lifted the spirit of the entire nation.
“What the Falcons represent goes far beyond football — they embody leadership, teamwork, and discipline,” he said.
“Through their example, millions of young women are learning that excellence knows no gender, and that with hard work and unity, they too can break barriers and achieve greatness.”
On behalf of the Government and good people of Ogun State, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Super Falcons and sports development across the state.
“We believe that through their success, the Super Falcons will continue to inspire the next generation of leaders, athletes, and achievers. Ogun State stands firmly with them as they continue to make Nigeria proud,” Governor Abiodun concluded
