The Umuahia Township Stadium, home ground of Abia Warriors FC, has been declared unfit and below acceptable television broadcast standards due to poor maintenance of its playing surface.

Following a recent inspection, the stadium was found lacking in several key areas, including:

  • A properly maintained playing surface suitable for top-flight football.

  • Standard floodlighting required for evening fixtures and broadcast quality.

  • Adequate, modern dressing room facilities for players and officials.

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has directed Abia Warriors to take immediate corrective measures to upgrade the facility. Failure to comply could see the club forced to relocate its home matches to an alternative ground that meets NPFL regulations.

The league body emphasized that all clubs must adhere to strict infrastructural standards to ensure a professional playing environment and deliver quality broadcast experiences for fans following via Propel Sports TV (NPFL Live) and other media platforms.

Abia Warriors have been given a window of time to commence renovations and bring the Umuahia Township Stadium up to standard ahead of the new season.
