TEAM OYO DEPARTS FOR ASABA 2025 NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES


Team Oyo has officially embarked on their journey to Asaba, Delta State, for the 9th edition of the National Youth Games, tagged “Asaba 2025”.

Before their departure from the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, charged the athletes to remain focused, determined, and committed to making the state proud.




She urged the contingent to go for gold medals, stressing that the government and people of Oyo State are fully behind them. The Commissioner assured the athletes of the state’s continuous support and encouraged them to stay positive and uphold the spirit of excellence and sportsmanship throughout the competition.







Hon. Adegoke further prayed for their safe trip, wishing them journey mercies as they headed to Delta State, and expressed confidence that Team Oyo will return with an impressive medal haul.

The National Youth Games will take place in Asaba from August 26th to September 6th, 2025, bringing together young athletes from across the country in the spirit of unity, talent discovery, and sports development.

*NSC Confirms Key Dates for 2025 National Youth Games* The National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed the official schedule for the 2025 National Youth Games, as the nation counts down to the much-anticipated multi-sport event to be hosted by Delta State. According to the Commission, the Games will run from August 26 to September 6, 2025, bringing together the best young talents from across the country to compete for glory and national recognition. Over the past few months, the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) have been actively inspecting and certifying facilities and venues, to ensure they meet the required standards for hosting a successful championship. NPFL Slams Heavy Sanctions on Kano Pillars Over Fan Violence in Matchday 8 Clash

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a series of severe sanctions on Kano Pillars Football Club following violent incidents during their Matchday 8 fixture against Shooting Stars SC at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday, October 12, 2025. In a summary jurisdiction notice dated October 13, 2025, and signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, the league found Kano Pillars guilty of multiple breaches of its Framework and Rules relating to crowd control, security, and misconduct. According to the NPFL, the club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, allowing unauthorized individuals to gain access to restricted areas and the field of play. The notice also cited the club for failing to control its supporters, who were accused of harassing players, throwing dangerous objects, and assaulting match officials and the visiting team.
