KANU CHARGES REVAMPED ENYIMBA TO GO FOR GLORY IN 2025/26 NPFL SEASON

Says Players’ Success Is Club’s Glory & Career Boost

Enyimba Football Club Chairman and Nigerian football legend, Ambassador Nwankwo Kanu, has challenged his newly assembled squad to “go all out for the league trophy” as the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season kicks off.

The 1996 Atlanta Olympic gold medal-winning captain issued the rallying call during the People’s Elephant’s final build-up session ahead of Sunday’s curtain-raiser against Barau FC in Kano.

Kanu, who famously guided Nigeria to one of its greatest global football triumphs, urged the players to turn their hard work and renewed structure into championship success. After a second-place finish two seasons ago and a sixth-place slip last term, the iconic striker made it clear that his administration is firmly focused on reclaiming the league crown.

“We have revamped this team for one purpose – to win,” Kanu declared. “Enyimba must always aim for glory. Every player, new or old, has to give their best in every game because when the club shines, it also reflects positively on your career and personal glory.”

The former Arsenal and Inter Milan forward reminded the players that healthy competition for places should be seen as a tool to raise standards, not rivalry. He further assured the squad that management remains fully committed to providing the necessary support to push them toward success.

“As management, we are ready to play our part. We will ensure you get what is due to you. All we ask in return is passion, positivity, and results — for Enyimba and for yourselves,” he stressed.

Excitement is already building in Aba as Nigeria’s most successful league side, with nine NPFL titles, prepares to unleash a blend of fresh signings and seasoned campaigners under the leadership of their legendary chairman.

With Kanu’s words ringing in their ears, the message is clear: this Enyimba team has been challenged to rise above past near-misses and reclaim its rightful place at the summit of Nigerian football.

The 2025/26 NPFL season begins this weekend, with all eyes on the People’s Elephant to see if Kanu’s rallying cry can inspire a return to glory.
