Oyo State Pillar of Sports and Chairman of the Pillar of Sports Youth Development Foundation, Mr. Temitope Ademola Obideyi, has congratulated Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) following their impressive 1–0 victory over Tunisian side, CS Sfaxien in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round on Saturday at the MKO Sports Arena, Abeokuta.


Obideyi, a passionate supporter and committed admirer of the Oluyole Warriors, expressed delight with the team's performance, particularly considering the Tunisian side's pedigree and the underdog status surrounding Shooting Stars ahead of the encounter.


The victory marked a memorable return to continental football for Shooting Stars after a 27-year absence, following their third-place finish in the previous NPFL season behind champions Enugu Rangers and Rivers United.


Speaking with OyoSportsNews after the encounter, Obideyi commended the players, head coach Salisu Yusuf, and the management led by Executive Chairman Hon. Taiwo Lekan Salami, describing the victory as a deserved reward for the team's collective effort.


He praised the players for their tactical discipline, technical execution, determination and impressive teamwork throughout the encounter, insisting that Shooting Stars demonstrated the quality and character required to compete at the continental level.


According to him, the 1-0 scoreline could have been more convincing had the Oluyole Warriors converted some of the opportunities that came their way, but he remained satisfied with the overall performance and the clean sheet secured against the experienced Tunisian outfit.


Obideyi is optimistic that Shooting Stars can complete the job in the second leg in Tunisia and advance to the next round of the competition. He, however, urged the technical crew to quickly address the team's shortcomings, particularly in front of goal, before the return fixture.


He also charged the players to remain focused, disciplined and committed, stressing that the advantage from the first leg must be approached with maturity and determination.


Obideyi further prayed for an injury-free encounter in Tunisia, expressing confidence that with the right mentality, tactical discipline and collective effort, the Oluyole Warriors can successfully defend their advantage and continue their long-awaited continental journey.
