OKANLOMO OÓDUA MOURNS CHIEF LEKAN ALABI, DESCRIBES HIS PASSING AS A GREAT LOSS TO IBADANLAND AND YORUBA HERITAGE

Chief (Engr.) Dr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Oódua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the renowned journalist, accomplished author, respected public relations icon, and Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi.

The death of Chief Lekan Alabi marks the end of a remarkable era in journalism, public communication, cultural documentation, and service to humanity. Throughout his illustrious career, he distinguished himself as a seasoned media professional, an outstanding historian, and a proud ambassador of Ibadan's rich cultural heritage. His immense contributions to the preservation of the history, traditions, and values of Ibadanland will remain evergreen.

As a former Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governors and an accomplished writer, Chief Alabi used his intellect, pen, and voice to promote truth, excellence, and the positive image of Ibadan and Yorubaland. His wisdom, humility, and commitment to public service earned him respect across political, traditional, media, and social circles.

His passing is not only a painful loss to his immediate family but also to the Olubadan-In-Council, the people of Ibadanland, Oyo State, the journalism profession, and all lovers of Yoruba history and culture.

On behalf of my family, associates, and the entire JDS family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan-In-Council, the bereaved family of Chief Lekan Alabi, and the entire people of Ibadanland.

I pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and gives his family, friends, and associates the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
