2026 Southwest 4x4 Handball Championship: Organisers Ready to Host Memorable Competition in Ibadan

The Southwest Zonal Representative of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi 'Arole', has assured participating states, athletes and officials that all necessary preparations have been put in place for a successful and memorable 2026 Southwest 4x4 Handball Championship scheduled to hold from Monday, August 3 to Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Handball Court, Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Speaking ahead of the championship, Adewusi disclosed that the organizing committee has been working tirelessly to ensure a seamless competition. According to him, logistics, technical arrangements, officiating, security, medical support, accommodation coordination and media coverage have all been carefully planned to meet acceptable standards.

He noted that the tournament will not only showcase the best of handball talents from across the Southwest but also provide an avenue for talent discovery, healthy competition and stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the region.

"We are committed to delivering a championship that will be professionally organized, competitive and memorable. Every committee has been assigned specific responsibilities, and we are confident that athletes and officials will enjoy a conducive environment throughout the tournament," he said.

Adewusi further stated that participants should expect quality officiating, efficient match management, improved media visibility, adequate welfare arrangements and the warm hospitality for which Ibadan is known.

"This championship is more than a competition; it is a platform to unite the Southwest handball family, discover emerging talents and further strengthen the development of the game in our region."

He urged all participating teams to uphold the spirit of fair play, discipline and sportsmanship while giving their best on the court.

"I warmly welcome all athletes, coaches, referees, officials and supporters to Ibadan. I encourage every team to compete with passion, respect the rules of the game and promote friendship beyond rivalry. Together, let us make the 2026 Southwest 4x4 Handball Championship a benchmark for future editions."

The championship is expected to attract teams and officials from all six Southwest states, with exciting matches and outstanding performances anticipated throughout the four-day event.
