Panic in Oyo as Gunmen Abduct Adebayo Adelabu's Sister and Twin Sons in Ibadan

Residents of Oyo State were thrown into shock on Wednesday following the reported abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power and prominent APC chieftain, Adebayo Adelabu, alongside her twin sons in Ibadan.

According to a statement released by the family through Mr. Femi Awogboro, Media Aide to Chief Adelabu, the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was driving her children to school. Armed gunmen reportedly intercepted the vehicle and forcefully whisked away the 43-year-old mother and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The incident has sparked widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond, further highlighting the growing insecurity challenges confronting many parts of Nigeria. Family members described the development as heartbreaking and traumatic, noting that the victims were carrying out their normal daily activities when they were attacked.

Mrs. John-Paul, the youngest of five children born to Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu, previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and First Bank Pension Custodian before voluntarily retiring last year. She had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children while making plans to reunite with her husband, who resides in the United States.

Following the abduction, the family immediately alerted security agencies, who have reportedly commenced investigations and rescue operations. Authorities are said to be working diligently to ensure the safe return of the victims and bring those responsible to justice.
