🀝 Oyo State SWAN, Sports Commissioner Settle Differences in Cordial Meeting




*November 10, 2025* – Ibadan, Oyo State – The leadership of the Oyo State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), led by Chairman *Otunba Ayomiku Ajibola*, convened a constructive and reconciliatory meeting with the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, *Alhaja Wasilat Adegoke*, at her office today.


The meeting, initiated by the Commissioner, was also attended by the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, *Ọba James Odeniran*, and senior directors from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It served as a deliberate step toward mending fences following recent misunderstandings over media coverage of the Falconets versus She-Amavubi FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.


During the session, Honourable Alhaja Adegoke extended an unreserved apology to SWAN members, describing the incident as a valuable learning experience. She reaffirmed her commitment to fostering seamless and respectful collaboration with sports journalists across the state.


In response, SWAN Chairman *Otunba Ayomiku Ajibola* commended the Commissioner for her humility and leadership, assuring full resumption of comprehensive coverage of the Ministry’s programs and activities.


Both parties expressed optimism for a stronger, mutually beneficial partnership in promoting sports development in Oyo State.

NSC Constitutes Organizing Team for 2027 Africa School Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a 21-man Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the Africa School Games, slated to hold in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2027.
