HANDBALL SOUTHWEST ZONAL REPRESENTATIVE ELECTION DISRUPTED, POSTPONED TO ABUJA
Handball Federation Southwest Election Postponed to Abuja Over Disruption Linked to Mr. Johnson
The much-anticipated election of the Southwest Zonal Representative of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) was on Saturday postponed to Abuja following disruptions at the Ibadan venue.
Our findings revealed that the process had reached an advanced stage after statutory delegates had cast their votes when chaos erupted. Mr. Johnson, identified as an ally of one of the candidates, Mr. Adeyemi George, popularly known as Osawe, allegedly encroached on the voting area and disrupted the orderly conduct of the election.
The intrusion created tension among officials and delegates, forcing the electoral committee to suspend the process. Sources within the Federation disclosed that the leadership decided to relocate the election to Abuja to guarantee fairness, transparency, and security for all stakeholders.
Observers expressed disappointment over the development, stressing that the action undermined the integrity of the electoral process. They however commended the Federation for swiftly intervening to avert further escalation.
As of press time, officials of the Handball Federation of Nigeria are making arrangements for the Abuja rescheduled exercise, where they assured that the election will be conducted under strict monitoring.
