FIFA Disciplinary Committee sanctions South African Football Association The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the South African Football Association (SAFA) for having fielded an ineligible player, Teboho Mokoena, in the South Africa v. Lesotho match played on 21 March 2025 in the FIFA World Cup 2026™️ preliminary competition, thereby breaching article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC) and article 14 of the FIFA World Cup 2026™️ Preliminary Competition Regulations. Consequently, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has declared the match in question to have been forfeited by the representative team of South Africa by a score of 3-0. SAFA has also been ordered to pay a fine of CHF 10,000 to FIFA, while Teboho Mokoena has been issued with a warning. Handball Federation Southwest Election Postponed to Abuja Over Disruption Linked to Mr. Johnson The much-anticipated election of the Southwest Zonal Representative of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) was on Saturday postponed to Abuja following disruptions at the Ibadan venue. Our findings revealed that the process had reached an advanced stage after statutory delegates had cast their votes when chaos erupted. Mr. Johnson, identified as an ally of one of the candidates, Mr. Adeyemi George, popularly known as Osawe, allegedly encroached on the voting area and disrupted the orderly conduct of the election. The intrusion created tension among officials and delegates, forcing the electoral committee to suspend the process. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, convened a Congress on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, with 28 representatives in attendance from various media organizations in the state.                                   PRESS RELEASE  ‘TUNDE AJIBIKE EMERGES BOARD MEMBER OF THE CYCLING FEDERATION OF NIGERIA  The duo of ‘Tunde AJIBIKE and Tawakat Yekeen, both of Oyo State origin, were sworn in as board members of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria during the inaugural ceremony organized by the National Sports Commission in the Conference Room of the Commission on Monday, 15th September 2025. This followed the keenly contested election held at the Gymnasium Hall of the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Abuja. Mr. Tunde Ajibike was elected as the Southwest Zonal Representative, while the 24-year-old graduate of Ibadan Polytechnic and gold medalist Tawakat Yekeen emerged as the Athlete Representative.
