NPFL Appoints Mike Itemuagbor as Special Advisor to Boost Sponsorship Drive

In a bid to strengthen the financial base of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), renowned sports marketing expert Mike Itemuagbor has been appointed Special Advisor to the league’s board.

Itemuagbor, founder of Padmozi Sports Marketing (PSM), was brought on board by NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, a personal friend, to leverage his vast experience and corporate network in repositioning the league to attract major sponsorships.

According to Elegbeleye, the appointment comes at no cost to the NPFL.

“The best part of this is that this great marketing mind is going to render his services free of any personal financial reward—it’s pro bono,” he said.

With a career in sports marketing spanning over three decades, Itemuagbor has worked with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), and is the founder of the internationally acclaimed Okpekpe Mountain Race, which has drawn some of the world’s best long-distance runners.

He also played a key role in securing some of the biggest sponsorship deals in Nigerian football history, including Globacom’s landmark sponsorship of the national teams and the then Nigeria Premier League.
