Nigeria’s Para-Powerlifters Depart for Chile World Cup


Team Nigeria has departed for Santiago, Chile, ahead of the World Para-Powerlifting World Cup slated for August 15–17, 2025.

The 10-athlete squad — eight women and two men — eventually jetted out on Monday evening after a delayed flight. The delegation features some of the nation’s most decorated para-powerlifters, including multiple world champions and Paralympic medalists.

Men’s Team:

  • Roland Ezuruike – up to 54kg

  • Riluwan Idris – up to 88kg

Women’s Team:

  • Tolulope Ogundolie – up to 45kg

  • Rukayat Ajiboye – up to 50kg

  • Esther Oyema – up to 55kg

  • Franca Anigbogu – up to 61kg

  • Onyinyechi Mark – up to 67kg

  • Chiamaka Ani – up to 73kg

  • Rita Ferdinard – up to 79kg

  • Folashade Oluwafemiayo – over 86kg

The competition in Chile serves as both a ranking event and a key preparatory outing for Nigeria’s para-powerlifters ahead of upcoming international championships.
