Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin Gifts Barau FC #17.5m, 35 Motorcycle; Unveils Ladan Basso as Technical Adviser


The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has celebrated Barau FC’s historic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with ₦17.5 million in cash and 35 motorcycles for the players.

At a reception in Kano on Monday, August 11, 2025, Senator Barau also officially unveiled Isah Ladan Bosso as the club’s new Technical Adviser, signaling strong ambitions ahead of their debut NPFL season.

Nicknamed the Maliya Boys, Barau FC earned promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) and now aim to challenge for the NPFL title and a CAF inter-club competition spot.

Senator Barau praised the team’s discipline and urged them to maintain focus, noting that fresh signings had been secured to boost the squad.

Club President Shawall Barau Jibrin and Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji hailed the Deputy Senate President’s unwavering support. Player representative Usman Maidubji thanked him, saying his contributions to youth development would be remembered “for generations.”
