Dan Ogunmodede Declares Loyalty to Chelle Amid CHAN Eagles’ Struggles

CHAN Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede has publicly backed head coach Eric Chelle despite the team’s disappointing run at the ongoing TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.

Ogunmodede, who also manages Remo Stars SC in the Nigeria Premier Football League, dismissed suggestions that he might criticise Chelle following the side’s poor performances.

“Many people expect me to say negative things about my head coach because I am no longer in charge of the team, and we are not doing well at CHAN 2024,” he said. “I will never do that. I am his assistant and I accepted this job. I stand with him, and I sink with him. That is what loyalty and professionalism are about.”

The CHAN Eagles have already crashed out of the tournament but still have a final group game against Congo on August 19. Ogunmodede insists the technical crew remains united despite the mounting pressure.
